Boss praises new boy

A last-minute winner from James Quinn sent the Wednesdayites in the North Stand of the KC Stadium into raptures and because of other results going their way, The Owls cannot finish lower than sixth place.

Drew Talbot scored the opening goal after following up from an Adams header but Hull got the leveller thanks to a Stuart Elliott penalty.

Sturrock though was impressed with both of his goalscorers but thought that
Adams was due for the highest praise of the day.

He said: “I could go over most of the players and every one of them came back into form at the right time. The
Sheffield public saw the real Steve Adams. He has come from Plymouth and taken a while to settle but I thought he was absolutely outstanding in everything he did.

“Quinn and Talbot caused them all sorts of problems. The boy (Alex) Bruce came in because of Patrick Collins’ injury and did well.

“They (the Owls fans) haven’t had much to sing about for the last eight to ten years and it is nice to know they’ve got something to look forward to at the end of the season.”
