The Owls boss has been looking for more firepower all season after a horrible run of luck with Steve MacLean, Drew Talbot and loanee Leon Best all getting injured.

And with Adam Proudlock sacked and Barry Corr still finding his feet, Sturrock has only had the option of pairing David Graham and Lee Peacock.

"I hope the fan base appreciate I'm an honest man," he told the club's official site about his striker search.

"I wouldn't be sitting here flannelling people. It's as much the punters' club as anybody else's. We have been desperately trying for two months solid to bring one - and with Talbot's circumstances, two strikers into the club.

"The search will go on and on and on until we get something."

The manager also revealed today that a loan target was struck down with a virus just before he was set to sign.
