Boyd deal looks dead

Boyd, who has scored 17 goals this season, was linked with Wednesday late last weekend after the Rugby Park club reportedly accepted a ‘substantial’ bid from a championship club believed to be The Owls.

But Boyd, who is a Rangers fan, would obviously opt for the chance to play for his boyhood club, the chance of regular European football and probably higher wages.

Raymond Sparkes, the player’s agent told the BBC: “We will be speaking with Rangers this afternoon but I cannot say whether I foresee any problems developing. We will listen to what Rangers have got to say and then see if that suits both parties.

"I have no idea what they will offer but we will find out this afternoon and then have something else to say."

Meanwhile Sunderland’s Daryl Murphy has returned to the Stadium of Light after being recalled from his loan spell at S6.
