Can Batth plug holes in Owls defence?

Sheffield Wednesday have made a move to try and solve their defensive frailties by signing Wolves defender Danny Batth on an emergency loan deal for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old is highly regarded by the Premier League club and was voted as their Young Professional of the Year.

Batth played 18 times on loan for Colchester last season and had a short loan spell at Sheffield United this season though this was cut short when he was called back to Wolves as cover and made the squad for their match at Liverpool in December. He made his full Wolves debut earlier this season when he played in the Carling Cup victory over Southend.

The move comes at a time when Wednesday are leaking goals left right and centre and have been further hampered by an injury picked up by Mark Beevers which forced him out of Tuesday’s home defeat to Peterborough during the early stages.
