Can Owls create another cup upset?

Sheffield Wednesday host Arsenal in front of the Sky TV cameras and a near sell-out Hillsborough crowd on Tuesday evening in the 4th round of the Capital One Cup.

The Owls won at Newcastle United in the previous round and will be hoping they can produce an even bigger upset against the joint-leaders of the Premier League.

Much of the pre-match build up has focussed on how many changes Arsene Wenger will make but Carlos Carvalhal made 10 changes to his line up in the last round and is expected to use the depth of his Owls squad again against the Gunners.

Joe Wildsmith will start in goal for the Owls with Keiren Westwood rested and Wednesday will be without injured players Alex Lopez, Michael Turner, Moudou Sougou and Marco Matias.

Lewis McGugan, Jose Semedo, Atdhe Nuhiu, Rhoys Wiggins and Liam Palmer will all come into contention for the home side.

Arsenal are likely to have Petr Cech in goal as his understudy David Ospina is injured. Wenger has revealed that young England defender Calum Chambers and rapid Costa Rica forward Joel Campbell will feature but Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky and Welbeck remain sidelined.

Experienced German defender Per Mertesacker has recovered from illness and could feature.

Both sides are enjoying good form going into this fixture. The Owls are on an 8-match unbeaten run in all competitions and Arsenal have won 4 in a row including victories against Manchester United and European giants Bayern Munich.

The Owls have not faced the Gunners since being relegated from the Premier League in 2000 but during their last spell in the top flight Wednesday record 5 wins and 3 draws from 9 home games against Arsenal between 1991 and 2000.

The tie does though of course bring back painful memories of the 1992/93 season as Wednesday were defeated by the Gunners in both the F.A. Cup and League Cup finals.
