Owls Vs Latics: Team news & preview

Sheffield Wednesday face Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough on Saturday in the final game before the Championship takes a two-week international break.

The Owls remain in touch with the top six despite a disappointing midweek defeat at Hull City and a win against the Latics would see them go into the break in positive spirit.

Garry Monk is unlikely to risk defender Tom Lees. He has been out for over a month with a hamstring problem and although he is close to a return he is expected to be given the upcoming break to fully recover.

The Owls will hope to have in-form striker Steven Fletcher back after he missed the midweek defeat due to an ankle knock. Fellow forward Fernando
Forestieri will serve the final game of his 6-match ban and midfielder Sam Hutchinson also misses out as he picked up his 5th booking of the season at Hull, resulting in a 1-match suspension. Massimo Luongo and Kieran Lee are in contention to replace him.

Wigan travel to Hillsborough having enjoyed a 1-0 home win against Birmingham in midweek. Michael Jacobs is likely to miss the game with a hamstring injury but Josh Windass and Anthony Pilkington returned to the side in midweek and came through unscathed so should be included.

The Owls have only taken 1 point from their last two Championship home games, losing to QPR and rescuing a late point against Fulham. Wigan have a dire record on the road having only won 1 of their last 27 matches on the road.
Wednesday enjoyed a 1-0 win when the two teams last met at Hillsborugh, Steven Fletcher scoring the only goal of the game.
