Wednesday land home F.A. Cup draw

Sheffield Wednesday were the first team out of the hat in the draw for the 5th round of the F.A. Cup on Monday evening.

Having seen off fellow Championship side Reading 3-1 at Hillsborough in the 4th round on Friday the Owls would have been looking for a home draw in the last 16 and that’s exactly what they got and they will face either Swansea City or Notts County.

League Two promotion contenders Notts County came from behind at home to draw 1-1 and earn a replay against Premier League strugglers Swansea City.

Although a tie at home to League Two opposition may represent the best chance of progression to the quarter finals many Owls fans will be relishing the prospect of former manager Carlos Carvalhal’s potential return to Hillsborough if Swansea prevail in their replay.

Carvalhal parted company with Wednesday as recently as Christmas Eve but it took just two days before he was appointed as Swansea manager.

The 5th round ties will take place on the weekend of the 15th February.
