Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri made the decision not to travel with the Sheffield Wednesday squad to play Norwich City on Saturday amid speculation linking him with a move away from Hillsborough.

Owls coach Carlos Carvalhal revealed ahead of kick-off that Forestieri had trained all week and the team had worked on tactics with him included in the side to face their fellow promotion candidates but the diminutive front man made a late decision not to take part.

Carvalhal revealed that Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri has underlined his intention not to sell any key players this season and so it will be interesting to see what effect Forestieri's stance has on that for the remainder of the transfer window.

Speculation has linked Forestieri with a move to fellow Championship big names Newcastle and Derby this week and the revelation that is has been his decision not to play for the Owls will not sit well with the supporters who have held him in high regard since he joined the club last season.

Wednesday produced a solid assured display without their influential supporter to earn a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road.
