Southend United will look to complete the permanent signing of Owls Leon striker Leon Clarke in the January transfer window.

Clarke, who has struggled at Hillsborough since his move from Wolves last January has found his feet in League One with an impressive seven goals in eleven games for the Essex club.

Southend manager Steve Tilson told the Sheffield Star "We have started talks with Leon and he's obviously done really well for us so we want him to stay."

It is believed a fee has been agreed between the two clubs, however Wednesday have left their options open should any move breakdown by not allowing Clarke to play for Southend in the F.A. Cup and become cup-tied.
