Sheffield Wednesday FC Chief Executive Kevan Walker today released a statement on the clubs' official website criticising supporters group Wednesdayite for making a letter sent by them to the clubs directors open to the public and asking for more patience as the club seeks new investment.

The letter that was made public knowledge by the fans group who own 10% of shares in the club described how fans are showing "a growing sense of frustration that the club is sliding towards the abyss."

There has been a general sense of unease amongst supporters of late in that the club are struggling on the field and despite endless rumours of takeover bids, the fans have received little official information of any such possibilities.

In response Kevan Walker has expressed his disappointment at the way in which this has been made a public matter, stating that the club is in advanced talks with two potential investors and that the groups actions could have a potentially damaging effect on these negotiations.

Mr. Walker also contested Wednesdayite's view that they felt obliged to make details of the letter public as they had not received replies from the club to previous correspondence. Mr. Walker stated that he had been in telephone contact with the group recently and had also sent a reply to a letter sent to the club from them on January 29th, the day after it had been received.

Relations between the club and supporters group have been fractious in recent times and this appears to be another twist in an ongoing saga.
