Draw for strong reserve side

Sheffield Wednesday reserves were held to a 0-0 draw against Derby County at Stocksbridge on a blustery Tuesday afternoon. With difficult playing conditions having a major influence on the contest clear cut chances were few and far between with Mark Beevers seeing a late effort cleared off the line and Derby striking a post.

Wednesday fielded a strong side with plenty of first team players eager to impress. Mark Beevers was partnered at centre back by out of form captain Darren Purse and the pair will have been pleased to have got 90 minutes and a clean sheet under their belt as the look to get back into first team contention.

Francis Jeffers, Sean McAllister and Etienne Esajas also played the full game and are likely to be in the squad when the Owls first team face high flying West Bromwich Albion at Hillsborough on Saturday.
