Dug out spat spices up Owls clash

No love lost between bosses

Sheffield Wednesday take on Birmingham City in the Championship on Wednesday evening at Hillsborough  and it seems the opposing bosses no longer have any kind of relationship in Garry Monk's comments in his pre-match press conference are anything to go by.

The Owls boss pulled few punches with his comments, including stating that he made an error of judgement by not listening to people in football circles who warned him about Pep Clotet.

Clotet was Monk's assistant at Birmingham City where Monk was generally praised for doing a good job in difficult circumstances. It was something as a surprise when Monk was dismissed in the summer having spent 15 months in the post, a decision he says he was first informed of via text message.

Clotet took over from Monk on a caretaker basis in June and remains in that position having not been appointed as the permanent boss to date. The pair have also previously worked together at Swansea City and Leeds United.

Wednesday go into this fixture in 9th place in the Championship, 2 points ahead of Birmingham.
