Chris Turner transfer listed the duo earlier in the season before he was dismissed and they have enjoyed a good run in form since been recalled to the team.

Proudlock has usually operated on the right but has disappointed this season but put in a good performance against Wrexham on Saturday.

Sturrock has told the former Wolves striker that his performance in Wales will be judged as a benchmark and he is not allowed to lower his standards.

Smith meanwhile has moved from winger to defender with success in the manager's eyes and 'Luggy' says that he could be a 'future number three' at the club.

He was signed from Hartlepool by Turner and made an impressive start to his Owls career before injuries and inconsistency set in; Smith has adapted well although his positional sense could be better, he is very strong in the tackle.

Sturrock will keep an unchanged team tonight against Chester City in the LDV trophy.
