'Embarrassing' trip to seaside

Before this weekend, only one team had beaten Wednesday four times in a season, now Blackpool go into the Hillsborough record books along with Manchester United for the same feat.

A 4-1 defeat was not good enough from The Owls, and thankfully some of the supporters who were at Bloomfield Road decided to leave the game early to get more entertainment on the Pleasure Beach.

Turner vented his anger at his pathetic excuse of a team but also admitted some of his own shortcomings by saying: “I’m embarrassed to say that’s not Sheffield Wednesday’s team but Chris Turner’s team, I feel badly let down and the players let the supporters down.

“We played like a five-a-side team – neat on the ball at times but when it came to the basics of doing what’s required to win a game of football we were pathetic.

“I’m ashamed that team were representing me as a coach and apart from some good efforts by Chris Brunt, we got the ball around the box a few times but we were very weak.”
