End of season report, the end of season loan signings

Wednesday have a relatively small squad and towards the back-end of the season loan signings played a big part in the Owls survival.

Adam Bolder: Joined in early February from QPR and teamed up well with various partners in the centre of midfield. Provided energy and steel in the middle of the park and also chipped in with two goals at Bramall Lane. Perhaps his main drawback is that while he is useful in a number of disciplines such as tackling, covering, mobility and passing, he does not really excel in any of them.

Overall Verdict: 7 out of 10. Would be a useful member of the squad.

Ben Sahar: Joined from Chelsea and struggled to adapt to the physical nature of the Championship before being out of the side for a short spell with illness and injury. Scored his first goal against Crystal Palace upon returning to the side and seemed to warm to the task from that game onwards.

Overall verdict: 7.5 out of 10. Clearly has ability and if Wednesday could add more creativity in midfield he would benefit from this although he may have his sights set higher.

Bartosz Slusarski: Signed from West Bromwich Albion he showed glimpses of what he was capable of when utilised as a substitute but was disappointing when given a start in the defeat at Blackpool. Played as more of a wide attacking player in the final two games against Leicester and Norwich and made a positive impact.

Overall Verdict: 7 out of 10. Has a physical presence, a good touch and makes intelligent runs. Is unlikely to feature in the Baggies plans and would be a good acquisition.

Franck Songo'o: Joined on loan from Portsmouth and proved to be an instant hit in the home game against QPR, creating a goal, making incisive runs and showing a level of ability on the ball that had been previously lacking. Continued to be positive influence for the remainder of the season but at times seemed to overdue things unnecessarily.

Overall verdict: 7.5 out of 10. Clearly gave the side and the supporters a much needed lift with his ability. Could be a real asset if managed properly but as with Sahar, may be looking to play at a higher level.

Enoch Showunmi: Signed from Bristol City in January, the tall striker started 6 times and made 4 appearances as a substitute for the Owls in what was in truth a very disappointing loan spell. He returned to Bristol at the end of March without registering a goal.

Overall verdict: 5 out of 10. Other than an assist against Cardiff Enoch contributed very little of note.
