Wednesday get big fitness boost

Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher is ahead of schedule for a return from injury and could even be back in the Owls squad this weekend.

Wednesday's top scorer sustained a knee injury in the FA Cup 3rd round tie at Brighton and the prognosis was that he would be ruled out for around 8-10 weeks. That was 7 weeks ago this weekend but the club have revealed that the Scotland forward has been training all week and could be included in the squad for the clash at Birmingham City this weekend.

This will come as welcome news to Owls fans who have seen the team struggle in his absence. Garry Monk's side have won only won league game since Fletcher got injured and performances have matched the results. The 32-year-old had been integral to to the success that Wednesday had prior to Christmas and his return can't come soon enough.
