Centre-back joins Owls

Having signed Jack Marriott to improve their attacking options on the domestic transfer deadline day, Sheffield Wednesday also moved to bolster their back line by bringing in Aiden Flint.

Flint moves to Hillsborough on a season long loan deal from Championship rivals Cardiff City. The centre-back, who grew up in Derbyshire, has a wealth of experience having made over 200 appearances for Bristol City before moving on to Middlesbrough and most recently Cardiff City.

The 31-year-old can be a towering presence at the back and also offers a threat from attacking set pieces. He joins the Owls at a time when the team have been looking short of options at centre-back. With Garry Monk opting to play with 3 centre-backs on a regular basis, injuries to Tom Lees and Dominic Iorfa, combined with the fact Chey Dunkley is yet to recover from a broken leg following his move to Hillsborough, have left Wednesday short and Flint may well be involved in the first team right away.
