Four eye Black Cats clash

Strikers Talbot and MacLean, who came on as second-half substitutes against Derby County at the weekend, both started the 0-0 Pontins league cup second-string clash against Rotherham.

MacLean played an hour after being taken off while Talbot was a half-time substitute for winger Small.

Small has not played since injuring his hamstring at Plymouth and his season has been a stop-start affair - but hopefully he can get fit in a bid to show Wednesdayites what he can do.

Adams meanwhile was brought back a tad too early by Paul Sturrock but he played well in the centre of the park, lasting the entire duration.

Only John Hills, Peter Gilbert, Joann Folly and Richard Wood remain regulars in the club's treatment room after a torrid injury-ravaged start to the season for Wednesday.

Meanwhile, former Owl Beni Carbone has completed his move to Australian A-League side Sydney FC on a four-week contract.
