Defender voted Player of the Year

Sheffield Wednesday's official Player of the Year for the 2018-19 season is Micheal Hector. The award is voted for by supporters and the on-loan Chelsea centre-back received no less than 42% of the votes polled.

Scotland pair Steven Fletcher and Bary Bannan were 2nd and 3rd in the vote with 16% and 13% respectively.

Hector has made 38 appearances since signing for the Owls on the summer transfer deadline day and he has grown into a fans favourite at Hillsborough, twice winning the Owls player of the month accolade in the first half of the season. His no nonsense approach to defending has helped the Owls keep plenty of clean sheets since the turn of the year and Wednesday fans will be hoping the club can bring him back to Hillsborough next season.
