Striker sends Owls through at the last

Sheffield Wednesday edged past Rotherham United at the New York Stadium on Wednesday evening to progress through to the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup.

Atdhe Nuhiu scored the only goal of the game in the last minute of stoppage time as, not for the first time in recent seasons, the Owls scored late on against the Millers.

Having made 9 changes to his starting line-up Lee Bullen will have seen little in the way of a positive impression from his fringe players in what was a largely uneventful first half.

Indeed, it wasn't until Kadeem Harris and Barry Bannan were introduced in the second half that Wednesday's quality started to show through. Harris brought more of a threat with his pace and intent and Bannan's ability to put a good ball into the box put the home side under more pressure.

Even then it took until almost the last kick of the game for the tie to be decided. Harris was the provider as his cross into the box had Wednesday players queuing up to put the ball in the net and that honour fell to Nuhiu to fire in from close range at the back post.
