Hull to snatch striker target

The former Chesterfield striker has scored 49 goals in just under 80 games for Stockport County and his form alerted Wednesday to his goalscoring prowess.

But The Tigers are set to wrap up a bargain basement £50,000 deal which will increase with future performances.

Wednesdayite Beckett would most likely crawl to Hillsborough and the only reason Hull are getting him so cheap is that he refused a contract extension so The Hatters decided to cash in on him now rather than see him leave for free in the summer.

With Paul Sturrock critical of his side's finishing at time, the addition of Beckett would have been a good one, but alas another one slips through the net.
