Individual end-of-season reports: Etienne Esajas

Last updated : 06 July 2009 By C. Morris

Like a fair number of his Owls colleagues, Etienne Esajas had something of a stop start season in 2008/09 due to injury problems.

The tricky left-sided Dutchman started less than half of Wednesday's competitive 1st team matches and having only started a handful of games in his first season in England Esajas still has a fair amount to prove at this level.

However, in the 18 league games that the former Ajax youth product did feature in from the start he made a positive impact more often than not.

His 3 league goals, added to 2 in the league cup made him the top-scoring Wednesday midfielder and the third-top scorer for the club in total during the campaign.

Esajas also contributed 4 assists, which despite his lack of games was more than any of his team mates. These figures would suggest that if the club, with their new medical staff and approach can find a way to maintain the winger's fitness then he has the ability to cause the opposition problems at this level.

Overall Verdict: 6.5/10
