Individual end-of-season reports: Mark Beevers

Last updated : 01 June 2009 By C. Morris

The young defender burst onto the scene in 2007/08 and stood out as one of the few shining lights in a difficult season for the Owls with numerous Premier League clubs though to be eyeing him up at that time.

In 2008/09 however he has not continued his development in the way that many had hoped he would and it has been a disappointing campaign that has seen him lose his place in the starting eleven towards the end of the season when Brian Laws has had other options available to him.

He has not looked as assured or confident this season and has struggled particularly in away games when the Owls have come under pressure and have leaked plenty of goals, at times looking somewhat slow and cumbersome and a shadow of the player that attracted so much interest and praise.

This wasn't the case in every game but there was a lack of consistency in terms of him putting together a sustained run of solid performances and will be looking to do better next season:

Overall verdict: 6/10.
