Midfielder signs for Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have completed their first signing of the 2018 January transfer window, bringing in Dutchman Joey Pelupessy on a permanent contract and he becomes the first player brought in under new manager Jos Luhukay.

The 24-year-old began his career as a youngster at FC Twente but his breakthrough came when he moved to Heracles Almelo in 2014. Pelupessy made over 100 appearances for the Dutch top flight club, helping them to 6th place and a Europa League spot at the end of the 2015-16 and taking on the captaincy of the team at the start of the current campaign.

The terms of the deal, including transfer fee and duration of contract have yet to be disclosed but the combative defensive midfielder is eligible to make his Owls debut when the Owls take on 3rd-placed Cardiff City at Hillsborough on Saturday.
