Kev finally gets his reward

Pressman, who’s long and distinguished career has spanned over three decades at the club, was axed yesterday along with twelve others.

Fans have been crying out for a benefit game for the custodian who was once on the verge of the full England squad after making three ‘B’ appearances.

Pressy, who did not see eye to eye with Chris Turner, may not have got a testimonial if it was not for Ken Bates, who told the press that the veteran deserves a game in his honour.

Kev has played back-up to the likes of Turner and the hapless duo of Chris Woods and Pavel Srnicek but overcame adversity time and time again to win the number one shirt.

No details have yet been released regarding the testimonial but whoever the opposition, Wednesdayites will flock to Hillsborough to give one of the club’s best ever servants a great send off.

But his understudy, Chris Stringer will have to retire from the game following two years of consent injury problems.

‘Jerry’ was a solid goalkeeper who will always be remembered for coming on against Wolves after only 13 seconds following Pressman’s record-breaking dismissal in Wednesday’s first-ever game in division one following their Premiership relegation.

I am sure I am not alone by wishing both stoppers all the very best in their future endeavours.
