Cross-city rivals United are the most likely opponents although the goalkeeper has also got in touch with Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers and Premiership big guns Manchester United and Newcastle United.

The reason the game will take place in the autumn rather than the pre season is because all clubs will be too busy with their own summer preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Pressman, a veteran of 19 years at Hillsborough, has not yet been fixed up with a new club after his release at the end of last season.

Meanwhile it was agony and ecstasy for former Owls Danny Wilson, Leon Knight and Andy Booth this weekend.

The trio were involved in the third and second division play-off games at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium for their respective teams Brighton, Bristol City and Huddersfield Town.

Knight scored the late winner for Albion over Wilson’s City team while Andy Booth was on the winning side as Huddersfield beat Mansfield on penalties earlier today.
