Laws effect praised by Brunt - exclusive

Brunt, who was one of the players of the campaign with numerous assists and ten goals found his form under Laws and could be a key asset for Wednesday if they are to mount a successful Premiership assault next season.

But the fact that Wednesday kept relatively healthy in 2007 following an injury-ravaged 2006 indicates what could have been achieved with a fully-fit squad.

He told Footymad: "We have a lot more fit players at the club now and we are playing very good football, that's what has helped us out. If I was a paying fan I would say that Wednesday play nice football because we move the ball very well, we create chances.

"Yeah we do concede more than we should but looking at our record at Hillsborough recently, when the opposition score we usually end up winning the game. We had a bad run in January but things are a lot more positive now and it holds us in a good position for next season."

Under Paul Sturrock, Wednesday were labelled as more of a long-ball side but now The Owls are more pleasing on the eye and Brunt believes his personal game has seen the advantages of that.

He said: "My personal improvement comes down to the style of game we are playing; we pass the ball about well and we keep moving which suits my game better and our midfielders now have more involvement in the game which perhaps didn't happen under the previous manager as we tended to miss out the midfield but now we are passing the ball more.

"There's been a massive improvement from last season and Glenn Whelan has had a tremendous season but it's because we are now passing the ball more and it suits his game especially."

And good football means good support and as usual, Wednesdayites were on top form last season which Brunt acknowledges.

He added: "The fans have been excellent this season - it was good for us to finish by showing appreciation to the fans."

"It's hard to see your team go through bad runs and we started off very poorly; fair enough we worked hard and we tried to grind out points but maybe at the start of the season we just weren't good enough. But obviously the new gaffer has come in and made some changes so we have progressed from there."
