Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed that Lee Bullen will take charge of the team for their opening Championship game at Reading on Saturday.

The Owls have been looking for a new manager since Steve Bruce walked out on the club to head for Newcastle United earlier in the month and not for the first time, Bullen has stepped up to take caretaker control.

Unlike on previous occasions when he has fulfilled this role, the former Wednesday defender has intimated that he would be interested in becoming the manager on a permanent basis but it seems that the club are still considering their options having received over 100 applications for the job.
