Loan watch: Quiet night for Sodje

Sheffield Wednesday striker Akpo Sodje was on the winning side once again this evening as promotion chasing Charlton Athletic posted a 2-0 away win at Brighton.

The tall striker has enjoyed a four match unbeaten run during his loan spell with the Addicks but he is yet to start a game and found himself on the bench at the Withdean Stadium despite scoring in the last game against Bristol Rovers.

Sodje managed just 15 minutes this evening, coming on with the points already more or less secured thanks to two first half goals with the opener coming from in form ex-Wednesday striker Deon Burton.

Akpo’s loan spell is due to come to an end on 11th December meaning that as things stand this Saturday’s home game against Southend is set to be his last for the Londoners.

It would appear that the striker has relished his time down South and he has found some form in bagging two goals but his lack of time on the pitch has perhaps not provided him with as much opportunity to build up his match fitness as the Owls would have liked.
