Sheffield Wednesday have followed up their first new signing of the close season by securing the services of last season's top scorer Marcus Tudgay.

The 14-goal hit-man still had a year to run on his previous contract but the Owls were keen to complete a new deal so as not to risk losing him on a free transfer this time next year and Tudgay is set to complete a deal which will see him contracted to the club until the summer of 2012.

The news was announced today on the official Wednesday website, www.swfc.co.uk and having agreed upon terms the striker is set to sign the new contract when he returns from holiday.

This development will come as a major boost to the club as it outlines their intent to keep hold of their best players and push for an improvement on last season's respectable mid-table finish.
