Marsden retires through injury

The veteran midfielder only clocked up 18 appearances for his boyhood team before being ruled out with the problem.

The former Southampton, Birmingham and Wolves midfielder recently saw a specialist who advised him that he may not recover sufficiently from an operation and unfortunately now has been forced into an early retirement.

Signed from Buscan Icons in the summer, Marsden was tipped to be influential player in the middle of the park for Wednesday although Owls fans will admit they never saw the best from him.

Marsden has always wanted to play for Wednesday since starting his career although leading The Saints out in the FA Cup final in 2003 will no doubt be his career highlight.

I would personally like to thank Chris for his interviews for this website and his overall honesty during his time at the club – whatever you do in the future, we wish you all the best of luck.
