New Appointment Made

SWWFC is delighted to announce that a replacement manager has been appointed. Liam Kelly, who was assistant manager with the Owl at the beginning of the season, has agreed to become manager until the end of the season, with the option of the job full time if certain targets are achieved.

Jeff Maslin stated “We had a number of options open to us after Andy stood down. After discussions with a number of people it was decided that the ladies needed continuity. As our position in the league was not healthy we needed someone who knew the girls, is a good coach and tactician and most importantly did not need time to bed in and could hit the ground running. Liam ticked all the boxes. He realises that the jump from assistant to manager is quite a big one but if we did not have faith in him, he would not be the manager. I have also today, to assist in Liams transition appointed Dan Duke in a role that will help in all areas of the club. This will include consulting with the management staff. Unfortunately due to his commitment to Rotherham United FC (mens) he can only assist on a part time basis.”

Kelly, who has experience at Leeds men and women, and assisted Duke at the beginning of the season said “I am both excited and challenged about this project. The excitement comes from working with players I know, respect and believe in. The challenge is turning that into points. We're under no illusions about the challenge ahead, but where there's a challenge there's an opportunity. An opportunity to put things right and do the right thing for the blue half of Sheffield. The task will be difficult at times, but we only have to look at our male counterparts to see what a new believe can do to gain instant results. This season will be judged solely on the next 10 or so weeks. Now it's up to us to make sure it's remembered for the right reasons.”

Kelly’s first match will be the 2nd round County Cup match against Beighton Magpies this Sunday. 1pm KO – Venue TBC.

Another appointment this week was the new position of Commercial Manager. Scott Turner who had been involved with the club as a coach has taken on this role. Scott will be responsible for sponsorships and match day fundraising. If you would like to assist in any way or would like to find out more about the sponsorship packages available please drop Scott an email on scott.turner@swwfc.net
