New faces wanted at Hillsborough

After signing ten players in the summer, many thought Turner would be satisfied with his squad but that does not seem to be the case.

But the Owls manager is happy with the players he brought in during his summer revolution of the club and just wants to add some back-up for places in defence and midfield.

He said: “As the season unfolds there will be outgoings for sure and new faces coming in if the situation presents itself.

“But I know there are a few areas in the team what do concern me in terms of strength and depth and as soon as we can address those, we will do - although players will have to leave first to release funds.

“I am not under any pressure to get anyone out and I am not putting the chairman under pressure to bring in four new players.”

It seems as if a reserve left-back would be on Turner’s wish list, as well as another central midfielder in an ideal world, although the likes of Craig Armstrong, Adam Proudlock, Kim Olsen and perhaps Paul Smith will have to leave Hillsborough first.

Turner continued: “We are getting by at left-back when Paul Heckingbottom’s out with Patrick Collins and Lee Bullen coming in but ideally we want players to play in their normal positions.

“In midfield we have three natural midfielders with Chris Marsden, Glenn Whelan and Lewis McMahon but I would like to add another player to that number when the time is right because a couple of injuries to any of those three and we are back to our bare bones but we have to take it one step at a time.”
