New Owls appointments to form football committee

Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dejphon Chansiri made a significant move in shaping the future direction of the club today by appointing two important members of staff.

Former Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder and ex Hull City chairman Adam Pearson have been appointed as advisors to the chairman and the plan is for the pair to act as a 3-man director of football committee along with Owls first team coach Stuart Gray.

Roeder had mixed success as a manager in spells at West Ham, Newcastle and Norwich but he has a wealth of experience in the sport and he is expected to oversee scouting and player recruitment duties at Hillsborough.

Pearson has worked in high-profile roles at a number of clubs, including Hull City, Leeds United and Derby County. Having been the commercial director at Leeds United during a time where the club enjoyed success on and off the field Pearson left this role to take control of stuggling Hull City in 2001. His first spell with the Tigers saw them rise from the wrong end of the third division to a thriving Championship team within 6 years.

The 50-year-old is expected to be involved in contract negotiations on the football side of things at Hillsborough whilst looking to maximise the Owls off-field actvities from a financial viewpoint.

The development is one that has more of a continental approach to football management and is designed to enable the head coach to concentrate more on the priority of running the first team.

Having recently purchased SWFC, Chansiri has outlined his aim of guiding the club to the Premier League by 2017.
