No new faces at Hillsborough with a week to go

Wednesday lack fresh impetus going into new season

Sheffield Wednesday kick off their Championship season at Wigan Athletic next Saturday and as yet Jos Luhukay has not added any new faces to his Owls squad.

The summer has seen the departures of Glenn Loovens, Ross Wallace and Frederico Venancio following the end of their contracts with Wednesday and more recently full-back Jack Hunt was sold to Championship rivals Bristol City.

The Owls finished last season in 15th place thanks to a strong finish when Luhukay was able to call upon the likes of Bannan and Forestieri who had missed much of the campaign through injury.

A few more familiar faces have returned from long-term lay-offs during the summer but there is a feeling that the squad is short of what they need in specific areas and could do with strengthening if they are to make a telling improvement of last seasons disappointing campaign.
