No news may well be good news so far on transfer front for Owls

While many clubs have done a great deal of business already in the January transfer window Wednesday have yet to make a firm move on either bringing players into Hillsborough or letting anyone go.

Championship rivals QPR have taken advantage of their recent cash injection to bring in more than a handful of players, while Norwich and Leicester- two clubs in a similar league position to the Owls at present have also added to their squads.

Many may see the lack of activity at Hillsborough as a blessing, given the financial situation the club is in it is thought that players will have to leave before new ones can be brought in and this had led to speculation linking the clubs best assets with moves away.

Everton for instance have previously been rumoured to be interested in Frank Simek although the injury that the right-back suffered in December may have cooled any possible advances and the toffees have recently signed 17 year-old Dan Gosling from Plymouth who plays in this position and they will be hoping he can fulfil this position in future years.

The most likely player to exit Hillsborough is Yoann Folly who has asked to leave the club and may be teaming up once more with Paul Sturrock at Plymouth.

It was thought that Leon Clarke would make his recent loan spell at Southend a permanent switch, which could possibly free-up some money for a player to come in, either bought or on-loan but this move has broke down and the player is back with the Owls.

Other Wednesday players believed to have been interesting other clubs include Whelan, Beevers, Bullen, and more recently Sodje but no official bids have yet been made or confirmed.

One player Wednesday were hoping to bring in was Michael Johnson, however the centre-back who performed well while on loan at Hillsborough this season has been involved in the first team since returning to Derby County over the festive period and his availability for transfer is now unclear.

While all fans would like to see the squad added to in various areas it is difficult to see how this can be done without losing key players as the Owls almost certainly have to sell in order to buy and it is difficult to sell players on who are either out of the team or struggling for form as there simply isn't any interest in such players.
