Stopper joins on loan

Sheffield Wednesday have moved to ease their defensive shortfall by adding Portuguese centre-back Frederico Venancio to their ranks.

The 24-year-old moves to Hillsborough on a season long loan from his home town club, Vitoria Setubal. Venancio has played top flight football in Portugal since breaking into the side in 2012 and has been a regular over the past 3 seasons.

He signed a new contract in the summer but has always had a desire to play in English football and despite being captain of the Primeira Liga side he has chosen to take his chance in the Championship.
