Owls add winger

Sheffield Wednesday have completed their first new signing of the close season by capturing the services of winger Jacques Maghoma on a free transfer.

The Owls swooped to pick up the highly rated DR Congo international on a 2-year deal and he will officially become a Wednesday player on July 1st when his current contract with Burton Albion expires.

Maghoma's career started in earnest at the Tottenham Hotspur academy before moving on to Burton Albion in 2009. He played over 150 times for the League Two side in his 4 seasons with them and really made a name for himself last season, scoring 18 times from 50 appearances in all competitions – not bad for a winger!

Maghoma scored in the play-off semi-final defeat to eventual winners Bradford and his performances earned him a place in the League Two team of the season and he was recognised by his team mates as being Burton's player of the year.

The Owls are hoping that popular winger Jermaine Johnson will sign a new deal with the club and if this is the case then Maghoma will provide a useful alternative in that position and a much needed option considering the injuries that JJ and fellow winger Michail Antonio have suffered from in the past.
