Owls chase flying Scotsmen

The Third Division's top scorer MacLean has been in fantastic form this season at Scunthorpe United, where he is currently on loan for the year.

The youngster has netted 24 times in all competitions this campaign for The Iron and has been one of the few shining lights in a season which leaves Brian Laws’ men just hovering above the relegation zone.

Other clubs have also shown an interest in the striker although it is unclear what MacLean’s options will be for next season at the moment.

But Chris Turner has brought in defender Dowie, a Scotland international at Under-21 level for a trial spell at Hillsborough.

Dowie has not made much of an impression at Ibrox and Turner is taking a look at him with a view to a permanent move.

It is clear Turner is planning for the future; he has already signed towering Newcastle defender Chris Carr and Manchester City utility man Glenn Whelan has signed a pre-contract agreement.
