Owls cup clash postponed

Wednesday fans intending to make their way to Hillsborough tonight for the F.A. Cup 3^rd round replay against Derby County may not be surprised to find that the weather has once again literally put a dampener on proceedings.

Heavy rain in Sheffield throughout last night and this morning resulted in constant monitoring of the state of the Hillsborough playing surface and the match officials were left with no option but to call the game off due to a waterlogged pitch.

While it is obviously a disappointment that the fixture will not be fulfilled today as scheduled the early decision that has been made does at least prevent a repeat of the home league fixture against Coventry on December 8^th that was abandoned after less than half an hours play.

The 3^rd round replay will now be played next Tuesday (22/01/08) at 7.45pm in order to fulfil the fixture before the commencement of the 4^th round of the competition the following Saturday.
