Sheffield Wednesday WFC picked up a very important 3 points at home to Luton Town LFC on Sunday afternoon. The Owls were just 4 points in front of bottom side Luton going into this game and both players and staff knew the importance of the points. And it was an early start for the Owls playing and Technical staff with a 9am meeting at Aston Hall Hotel, Sheffield, as the Owls staff, reaffirmed technical issues and targets with the player's.

The players stepped up to the mark and produced what was asked of them by starting brightly, playing some very positive football in the Luton half, but the Londoners were equal to it. Despite this Wednesday pushed forward and on the 20 minute mark a shot from Sarah Danby was seen into the net by in-form youngster Hollie Barker to put the Owls 1-0 up. Luton pushed forward looking for the equaliser with a few dangerous balls over the top, but the centre back pairing of Sharp and Hobson dealt with them all along with Keeper Maslin sweeping up all the through balls.

The first half ended with Wednesday one goal in front, and it was the Owls who began the second half the brightest going a further goal in front, when a Hayley Sharp header met an in swinging Danby corner to score her second of the season.

Wednesday continued to press for a third, but it wasn't to come. This was immaterial however as the 3 points were secured and the Owls staff will be left confident and positive going into this weekend’s game against table-topping Liverpool, after seeing a good reaction from the players.

Assistant Manager Liam Kelly commented; "Pats on the backs must go to every member of the playing staff, selected or not selected; it's been a long time coming the 3 points, and our 1st clean sheet of the season is an important factor in our development, but we need to build on this and take it forward. Over the last few weeks a lot has been asked of the players and staff, honesty on the training ground has been key. And we knew as players we had to improve, as coaches we had to improve and as a club we had to improve. But one win does not mean we rest and lose focus, it only means we're heading in the right direction and added quality is needed all this week in training and going into a very tough game at Liverpool this weekend."
