Sheffield Wednesday will face West Ham United in the 3rd Round of the F.A. Cup at Hillsborough.

The Owls beat Aldershot 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Ryan Lowe’s 2nd half goal and will fancy their chances of causing something of an upset against the Championship high-flyers.

Wednesday are unbeaten in 11 home games in all competitions so far this season. West Ham have been impressive on their travels, winning 7 and losing just 1 of ten away games in the league. The Hammer’s have already been beaten by lower league opposition in the League Cup this season when Aldershot beat them at Upton Park.

Both sides main focus is on gaining promotion from their respective divisions this season but Owls boss Gary Megson has been keen to point out that maintaining the fine home form in all competitions is good for team spirit and confidence and Wednesday will be keen to try and progress further in the F.A. Cup.

The two sides last faced each other in the League Cup in 2005 when the Hammers won 4-2 at Hillsborough.

The tie will take place during the weekend commencing 7th January 2012 which means that the Owls League One fixture away toScunthorpe that was scheduled for that weekend will have to be rearranged.
