Sheffield Wednesday face a difficult trip to Southampton in the 3rd Round of the Capital One Cup. The Owls saw off Fulham at Hillsborough on Tuesday evening and will now travel to the Premier League new boys during the week commencing September 24th.

Owls boss Dave Jones managed the Saints between 1997 and 2000, winning the LMA manager of the year award in 1998. His time in charge on the south coast ended in controversial circumstances when Jones was forced to take time out to defend himself against unfounded allegations of child abuse. The case was thrown out of court immediately but Southampton decided not to take Jones back on resulting in a failed appeal of unfair dismissal.

Elsewhere in the draw the two Manchester clubs face home all Premier League ties with City taking on Aston Villa and United hosting Newcastle. Cup holders Liverpool travel to West Brom and South Yorkshire’s only other remaining representatives in the competition, Doncaster travel to Norwich.
