Owls finalise Sykes payment

Sykes, who has also served a similar role at hometown Huddersfield Town, has been given compensation after his shock departure, although the actual amount has not been disclosed.

Current chairman Dave Allen decided to make his role redundant as part of a bid to make the business more effective following Wednesday’s plummet from the Premiership into division two.

It was rumoured that Allen and ex-secretary Sykes did not get on and had major differences, although the club have wished him the best for the future.

It could be the start of quite a few interesting months in the Wednesday boardroom with the proposed interest from Ken Bates and Dennis Hobson, despite both been involved in public slanging matches with Allen.
