Sheffield Wednesday have received an early Christmas gift with the news that on loan defender Danny Batth is to extend his loan spell.

Batth, who had a spell at Hillsborough at the back end of last season, returned to the club in the summer on a deal that was set to expire at the turn of the year. However, following successful talk with his Premier League parent club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wednesday have managed to secure the players services until the end of the current season.

The 21-year-old has been an integral part of the success of Gary Megson’s side so far the season, featuring in every league game to date and forming an effective central defensive partnership with club captain Rob Jones in helping the Owls to 2nd place in the League One table.
