Owls hoot over Croat

Posavec, recently turned 24, currently plays for Croat outfit Slaven Belupo and is their leading scorer with seven goals from twenty-one games so far this season and has had UEFA Cup experience.

The left-sided player once caught the eye of Italian giants Internazionale, and despite not making the grade in Serie A, he did eventually sign for Hannover 96 before going back to Croatia after an unhappy spell in Germany.

Although partial to the odd booking, he can play in midfield and attack and is the nephew of former Croatian national manager Branko Ivankovic.

Because Posavec holds a Slovakian passport, he has attracted interest from both Dusan Galis and Otto Baric, respective international bosses of Slovakia and Croatia.

The player did confirm that Wednesday representatives have been watching him and were impressed by recent showings, although he did also clarify that there would be some news regarding a possible move next week. In other news from Hillsborough, Craig Armstrong will continue at Grimsby Town for the remainder of the season after joining The Mariners on loan last month.

The former Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield Town player has now played his final game for Wednesday, thank our lucky stars, as his contract expires at the end of the season and he would have been released.
