Wednesday Vs Bristol City: Team new & preview

The Championship action returns this weekend following the last international break of 2017 and the Owls face a tough test to maintain their recent upturn in form with Bristol City currently in 4th place in the table having seen off rivals Cardiff City last time out.

Wednesday could welcome back midfielder Kieran Lee who was carrying a knock prior to the break but with 3 games to come in the next 8 days he is unlikely to feature from the start in all of them. Jordan Rhodes will hope to keep his place having scored 2 in 2 games while the likes of Atdhe Nuhiu, Lucas Joao and Almen Abdi will all be looking to make the squad having had positive run outs recently – Nuhiu for Kosovo and the latter 2 in the Owls academy side.

Bristol City are expected to welcome midfielder Jamie Paterson back into the squad as he has shaken off a hamstring injury and defender Nathan Baker is also ready to make a return from a knee injury. The Robins will however be without their captain Bailey Wright as he serves the final game of a 2-match suspension.

Having suffered a poor run of 1 win in 7 Wednesday come into this game on the back of 2 victories including an impressive performance last time out at in-form Aston Villa.

The Robins have won 4 in a row including 2 away wins and a resounding League Cup home win against Crystal Palace. They have only lost twice so far this season and have not been beaten on their travels since August.

Wednesday enjoyed a 3-2 home win when the 2 sides met at Hillsborough last season though they had to come from 2 goals down to get the 3 points. The return fixture at Ashton Gate ended in a 2-2 draw.
