Manager keen to add balance

Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce has stated he is looking to make 3 or 4 more signings ahead of the 2019-20 season to give Sheffield Wednesday the best possible chance to challenge at the top end of the Championship table.

Speaking at Owls in the park on Sunday, where thousands of Wednesday fans attended an open day alongside the players and staff of the club, Bruce said that progress in ongoing with more potential signings and he hopes to have another free transfer in at the club next week.

Wednesday are already looking to formally complete the free-transfer of Julian Borner, Moses Odubajo and Kadeem Harris and with all 3 involved at Owls in the park it seems these are more or less done deals.

Trimming the current squad could be key to being able to bring in the players Bruce feels he needs to make the Owls truly competitive. Since taking over in February the former Manchester United defender has spoken of the Owls not having the right balance.

Wednesday have six first-team strikers on their books in the shape of Steven Fletcher, Fernando Forestieri, Atdhe Nuhiu, Lucas Joao, Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall. If the Owls could move a couple of these on then that may free up funds to bring in players in other areas. It is no secret that Norwich, who took Rhodes on loan last season, are keen to take the forward back to Carrow Road but the two clubs remain some way apart in terms of their valuation of the player.
