Owls ladies off to a flying pre-season start

Last updated : 20 July 2009 By C. Morris

The Owls women kicked off their preseason in emphatic style by slotting eleven goals passed Wakefield Ladies.
The owls opened the scoring on 1 min through Tanya Rich who went on to score 4, the Owls new signings looked very much at home with Rachel Lee, Sarah Danby and Emily Scott all adding their name to the score sheet. Other goals came from Corrine Maddy, Gemma Gale and Nicolle Jepson.
Wakefield played some nice football and with a never say die attitude did score with a shot from a wide angle.

Coach Daniel Duke was understandably in a positive mood with the new season just around the corner -

"We are very pleased with how the girls approached this fixture, it was important for us to get some football played as all the players are really itching for minutes on the pitch. The new players that we have brought in looked very comfortable and every one of them added a lot of value today. We had a number of players un-available this weekend which included some of some very important players from last term but the girls today really took the bull by the horns and have done a lot of work to secure their place for next week when we play in the Umbro's, overall things are looking very promising for the coming season and as long as we keep working hard and the same approach then I'm sure we have a lot to look forward to."
