Tie suspended as Bury issues continue

Sheffield Wednesday have been left in limbo in terms of the Carabao Cup following a ruling by the EFL on Thursday.

Wednesday were scheduled to face Bury at Hillsborough on Tuesday 13th August but Bury's financial predicament cast doubts over whether the game would go ahead, especially as the Shakers had their first two League One fixtures if the season suspended.

The EFL have now stated that the 1st round cup tie will also be suspended as they state that Bury have not provided sufficient information to satisfy the league that they will be able to fulfill their financial obligations for the 2019-20.

As a result of this latest development, the EFL lifted the suspension of a notice of withdrawal of membership from the EFL on Bury FC and the club now has until 23rd August to provide the required evidence and information. How Bury respond to this is likely to determine when the game against the Owls will take place, if at all.
